Fashionistas in your house or on your Holiday list will love this new title from Thomas Allen & Son ltd. The Fashion Designer's Handbook by Marjorie Galen. This handbook will teach young fashion designers to learn to sew 33 fabulous projects for their dolls and themselves. Each doll sized creations will fit an 11 1/2 inch doll (Barbie size). Then there are 3 "girl-sized creations to make also.
The book includes 1 dress form, 3 decorative fabrics, embroidery thread and a tape measure. There will be only three more things you will need to get started needles, scissors and thread. This is a great book that is divided into sections.
It starts out explaining how to design clothes, how/what materials needed and how they hang, colors, tool and patterns. As I self-taught myself to sew when I was older I find this a great beginners book and would have loved this for myself when I was young. The reader will also learn basic hand stitching and then get into the pattern sections.
Make dresses, pants, bathing suits, backpacks and many more items. While you work you can use your mini dress form and then have a fashion show with your dolls.
There are patterns included in the back of the book along with sketches of women and also a resource section. In the "girl-sized" chapter you will find 3 patterns a tote bag, a t-shirt dress and a skirt.
