My Thoughts: This has to be one of my favorite books this year. The rink was my second home when I was growing up, my brother and I were both figure skaters. My brother was a competitive pairs skater, so I can relate to the skating in the book. Life on the Edge brought back tons of skating memories.
Right from the beginning of the book I was hooked on the characters and the life of a figure skater. This book is really for fans of figure skating with just a bit of romance. It is a clean read for young adults that don't want hot and heavy romance scenes. The book takes place around 2000 and follows a pair couple, Emily and Chris who have a dream of winning the Olympics. They have a Russian coach named Sergei who starts hanging out with Emily outside of the rink. They develop a great friendship and discover they have more than friends feelings for each other. They have a problem with coming out with their relationship because of the skating federation wouldn't approve coach/student relations. I will not give away the ending but will say that I look forward to reading the next book called Edge of the Past. This book was really well written and flows really nicely even through it spans over a year of their life in just over 300 pages. A must read for the romantic figure skating fans!
