Sensodyne Toothpaste Review and Giveaway!

Lately I have been experiencing sensitive teeth. Just on small things like sitting down to my morning coffee or having cold water. I know some of this is due to the fact that I grind my teeth at night and clench in the day from stress.

Did you know that about 44% of adults suffer from tooth sensitivity?  It’s not a disease, but a condition that usually develops over time.  Most suffers are between 20 and 50 years old, but that span is growing.

I was very surprised by that number and started asking around to my friends, family and co-workers and sure enough it was a big response to sensitive teeth.

SENSODYNE is The #1 Recommended brand for sensitive teeth by Dental Professionals and it also won Reader’s Digest Most Trusted Brand for 2011.

When you brush with Sensodyne every day, you don’t have to compromise your favourite toothpaste benefits like cavity protection and fresh breath.  Sensodyne provides clinically proven sensitivity relief while it also:

-       Fights tartar*
-       Prevents cavities
-       Removes plaque with brushing
-       Helps keep gums clean with brushing
-       Freshens breath

*with regular brushing

I tried out the Sensodyne multi action whitening forming gel tooth paste and boy did it form up! This is a great tasting tooth paste that you only need a little bit on your brush. Dh and I found out the first time we tried it as we put the regular amount and it was too much. The forming gel did leave my teeth whiter and smelling fresh for sure. I have noticed a difference in a week and will continue to use Sensodyne.

As part of Sensodyne's Prevent the Pain from Returning Again campaign, Sensodyne is providing a couple of great offers for people to try out there products and see for yourself.

Visit www.walmart.ca – from May 27 to June 16, and sign-up for a free sample of Sensodyne Toothpaste that will be mailed to them.

Project Grocery Week 10-May 21-27,2011

This week I started off with only $68.62 as I over spent last week. I actually started off with $68 as I have a little jar on my kitchen counter where I ditch my nickles and dimes, and another jar for pennies. When they get full I roll all the change. It's been an extra way of saving.
Shopper's Drug mart: $25.13 this is a 3 trip total for the week but don't worry I do not drive as we live only a few minute walk away. This week Shopper's had Sunlight dish soap on for .99 cents! I picked up 5. I also got a good deal on St. Ives facial products as I had 3/$1.00 off coupons which made each product $1.99.

Food Basics: $20.25. This weeks great buy Tropicana orange juice 3/$5 and I had 3 coupons of a $1.00 off Heart Wise OJ, my juice cost .66 cents each!
Independent: $0.00 this week all I got there was a Frozen yogurt

Post Office: .67 cents for a Canadian Stamps

Giant Tiger: $11.94 Cheese slices and trail mix. Cheese Slices were dirt cheap at $1.87 so I stocked up. I used my own bag and got a .03 cent credit.

McDonald's: $1.05 a nice large Caramel Iced coffee

$2 - P for school trip to feed the animals

Total: $61.04
Coupon total: $11.99 not bad since I really didn't buy much this week.

    Making My Coupon Binder

The best way to save money using coupons is to be organized. Also helps if you remember your coupons, not that I ever forgot, no never, hehe. I have done that a lot in the beginning but I am getting better.

To get the best savings you need to flyer shop and combine your coupons. I usually sit down each week with the flyers and my coupons and make my grocery list.

For the last couple years I have been using an mini accordion folder for my coupons. It is actually a coupon folder and was labelled and all but made it is made out of cardboard. Slowly it is falling apart. I did like that it was small enough for my big purse and I usually always had it on me.

I have decided to move up to a binder. I started to put it together on Monday. I picked up the trading card holders and some dividers that were on sale and then marked another 50% off for the dividers at Staples.

Here is what it looks like so far:

I figure I will make a table of contents to go with my tab numbers on the dividers, then I will have a page in each section with the Months and each coupon I have? Or maybe I will just list each coupon as I put them in and their date of expiry.

Do you have a coupon binder? How do you set yours up? I would love to hear all about how you store your coupons.

    Extreme Couponing Bread Style

The last few weeks have been slim pickings for bread on the 50% off rack but week 9 of Project Grocery we did a lot better!

Yes I know this is a lot of bread but we do go through a lot in this house. Dh loves to have peanut butter on toast for a snack or late supper.

I had 9 coupons for the brown loaf of bread for .75 cents off and 9 coupons for .50 cents off the others. We always stocks up on 50% off bread but usually its only about 4-8 loaves at a time. We have a big freezer that we store it in until we need it. All the bread was 50% off and then the coupons. The buns we had 2 .75 cents off and they were on sale for $2.29.

I maxed out Independents coupon limit and the cashier had to get an override the rest, about 4 or 5 more coupons.

Total for 19 loaves of bread and two packs of buns= $19.70!

    Honey Granola Bar Recipes

When is rains for a week what should be do? I know bake! I love baking and the kids love to help. Here is what we tried out today from A's new cookbook from her school she will be attending in the fall.

    Honey Granola Bars

1 1/4 cup quick cooking oats
    1/4 cup whole wheat flour
    1/4 cup toasted wheat germ
1/4 cup honey plus 2 Tbsp honey
    1/3 cup raisins
    1 Tbsp cinnamon

Combine the oats, flour, wheat germ and stir to mix well. Add honey and stir until the mixture is moist and crumbly. Fold in raisins and cinnamon. Coat an 8 inch square pan with nonstick cooking spray. Pat the mixture into pan and bake at 300F for 18-20 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cool to room temperature, cut into bars and serve. Yields 12 servings.

These turned out yummy for sure! They were very easy to make, all in one bowl and then transfer to pan and bake. I had everything on hand to make the granola bars. A nice bonus is they are peanut and nut free! I can send it to school with the kids. Yay! They did get crumbly though and didn't cut well but I think that may have been my fault as I cooked them on the low end of the time. I will definitely try these again and bake a couple minutes more. It does make a nice snack with yogurt.

This is the crumble left over after cutting the squares. I guess it was more like breaking them up. Oh well tasty anyways! The kids have a lot of fun helping measure, mix and pat the mix into the pan. This was a great afternoon activity on a rainy day.

    He is We Album Review

Just recently I have been introduced to a couple artists I have not heard of before. They are not new, but to me and likely a lot of other people they are new to them. Yesterday I introduced you to Yael Naim and today I would like to introduce you to a great duo called He is We. They have been together since 2008 and have 3 releases, their newest album being My Forever. I had the opportunity to review this album and want to share a bit about the band and how I liked the album.

He is We got together after Rachel Taylor and Trevor Kelly went to work at Ted Brown Music Tacoma, Washington. They both felt like outcasts and spent a lot of time getting to know each other which lead them finding out they were both musically inclined. Their first song together was a track called Such a Beautiful Sound, written at a friend’s house, and the transition from music store co-workers to band mates was a natural next step.

Rachel and Trevor recorded Pardon Me and put it online. At first it only got a few hits a day and then it took off with tons of hits a day. They continued to work on more tracks for a debut album that is where He is We got started.

He is We is an indie-pop band with beautiful and well written songs. They have a fresh feel with Rachel's lovely voice and Trevor playing music it is a great mix. All their songs are pretty upbeat, light and fun. I love that I can play this during the day while my kids are around and they seem to enjoy the album also. No swearing very clean content. I have found it to be a great album to listen to while blogging :)

Take a look at this video of Happily Ever After:

I just love the video is is such a cute video and in the end she does get the Happily Ever After. I am looking forward to more from He Is We.

Visit He Is We Website to check out tour dates, merchandise, tracks etc. Also follow on Twitter and Facebook

You can purchase My Forever on iTunes for $7.99.

~*Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of the above mentioned album by He Is We from Sneak Attack Media for review purpose. All opinions are honest and my own.*~

    Yael Naim Album Review

Yael Naim is a French-Israeli singer-songwriter who has two albums released to date. Her first Album was self-titled and released in 2007 followed by a year long promotional tour around the world.  You may have experienced Yael’s beautiful voice on the Apple commercial for the MacBook Air. They featured “New Soul” for the commercial.  New Soul has been downloaded nearly 1.5 million times in the US!  Yael is the first Israeli solo artist to have a Top 10 hit in the U.S.

The first time I played Yael’s new album titled She was a Boy it reminded me of something that would be featured on Grey’s Anatomy. I searched on google and found out that yes Yael Naim has been featured on Grey’s Anatomy Season Five season finale, Hollywood, Mon Amour, Flashdance What a feeling. I also found out her music was on the most recent Grey's last Thursday May 12, 2011. Yael albums is very relaxing but fun and upbeat. I love to listen to She was a Boy while cooking, blogging even just before bed. I find her voice very soothing and fun. I love all the songs on the album but I think my favorite is Come Home. Something about the music I really enjoy.
Yael doesn't work in a regular studio. I found it really interesting reading about Yael and her longtime musical partner David Donatien and how they work together in Yael’s apartment/studio. Here is what Yael has to say about composing her music. “Composing is something I do alone—it’s very intimate, and it happens quickly. Then I start the arranging and recording process with David. We do everything at home because we need to be in that secluded environment. You can never be completely alone in a big studio; there’s always an engineer or an assistant around. So you can’t be half-naked or record something at 4 o’clock in the morning.” Naim laughs. “At home I have complete freedom.”

If you are interested in learning more about Yael Naim and her music stop over at her Website, "Like" her Facebook page or follow her on Twitter.

She was a Boy was released May 10th, 2011 and you can find it on iTunes.com for $9.99.

~*Disclaimer: I received the above mentioned product free of charge in exchange for a review on CCM. All opinions are honest and my own.*~

    Chuggington Interactive Railway Review

P loves trains. Really he loves anything with wheels. He is the little boy that will gravitate to a train set or box of cars when he is at a playgroup or friends house. He loves his cars and trains. P had the opportunity to check out the new Chuggington interactive railway by The Learning Curve.

    "About Chuggington
Chuggington is a CGI-animated series as well as a fully immersive interactive website. The series follows the adventures of Wilson, Brewster and Koko, trainee engines, each with their own unique personality and learning style.  The series is set in a world much like our own with cities, villages and diverse cultures and geography. Entertainment and enjoyment is at the heart of Chuggington, but embedded within each story are important educational and developmental messages centered on learning and social-emotional development. Chuggington is directed by Sarah Ball, who won a BAFTA award for her work as a director and writer of Bob the Builder. The property was conceived to seamlessly integrate television, books and interactive. Further information is available at www.chuggington.com,

Chuggington Interactive Railway Wash & Fuel Starter Set
Brewster is a strong and solid diesel-electric train built for heavy loads. He doesn't always understand his own strength, which can make him a bit awkward and clumsy. Take him through the Chug Wash and hear him react as to the different wash cycles. Then, head over to the Fuel Depot where he can fill up. This set also includes an overhead signal and figure 8 layout. Ages 3 and up. SRP: $39.99. Available exclusively at Toys”R”Us.
This is the set we had the chance to review!

My Thoughts: Upon arrival both of my children were very excited to open up the railway set and start playing it. At first I was a little scared as we have had another train set that was pretty tricky to set up. This set was very simple there are number on the bottom of the tracks and they correspond with the instruction booklet. We set it up all in under 10 minutes and the kids were playing with Brewster and the track. This set came with a gas station and wash/paint station. The set includes a nice amount of track with its easy tabs to connect and take apart. The kids had a lot of fun running Brewster around to each station and listen to what he had to say. The gas and wash station are also interactive. The whole set seems to be made really well and looks like a set that will last a while. Each station and train has an on and off button that is easy for a child 3+ to turn off and on. P was great at turning it on and off and A didn't really have any troubles either. More just to remind her to turn it off when not playing with the train.
This has been hours of play fun for both children. P has played with this set over and over. P says his favorite part of this set is when the train drives (he does this part) and he loves when Brewster talks to him and the stations make sounds. Definitely a keeper in this house!

The train set uses SmartTalk technology; Chuggington Interactive Railway engines recognize and interact with one another and with key train stops in the collection. The more engines you have the more interactive they become.

    Up Coming Music Reviews

If there is one thing in life that I love (of course I love my family first) is music. Music has been a huge part in my life growing up. I grew up listening to everything from old country to rock and roll. I traveled around with my family as my brother played in a Drum corp. I usually always have music playing in the background. I love listening to new and upcoming artists along with artists that are not mainstream I guess you could say.

I have been recently introduced to some great artists I had never heard of. This week I would like to share these artists with you if you haven’t already experience their great sounds.

First I review the new album from He Is We called My Forever. Next I will introduce you to Yael Naim with her new album She is a Boy. Ari Hest I briefly introduced you to him just before Mother’s day.

    My Little Pony Review

I am sure everyone remembers the magical ponies from the ‘80’s called My Little Pony? For those that do not know about these great little ponies, they came out in 1983 by Hasbro and were very popular toys for little girls. In 2008 My Little Pony had its 25th anniversary! Now I am feeling old, but I love My Little Pony!

I remember loving all those little ponies and how much I played with them. I had a big Rubbermaid container filled with ponies. When I think back I spent many hours playing with my Barbie’s, dolls, care bears and My Little Pony ponies.

I was very happy to see the new My Little Pony line out. I found a few older ponies a year ago at a garage sale and picked them up for A to get started. My daughter just loved them and played a lot with them. I recently had the opportunity to review a new line of My Little Pony with A and she was Excited to play!
The day the box arrived with the ponies A opened it up and let me know who each pony is. A watches the My Little Pony tv show on Tree House from time to time.  A was sent Pinky Pie and Twilight Sparkle to review. Right away they were taken out of their packaging and off she went to play and find her other ponies to play all together. A began playing house with her ponies and brushing their manes.

These My Little Pony are just the way I remember them. They have cute little symbols on their haunches along with a beautiful mane that is easy to brush. The ones A got came with a back saddle, a pet and a comb. Hours of imaginative play has happened with these two ponies, from house to a princess castle to just hanging out in bed. A has even mentioned having a My Little Pony party.

You can find My Little Pony at the following Canadian Retailers: Toys R Us, Zellers, Wal-Mart, Superstore. Find out more about the Ponies at the My Little Pony Website, Facebook or on Twitter.

    Happy Mother's Day!

Canadian Coupon Mom wants to wish all the Mother's in the world Happy Mother's Day!

This is what happened this morning at my house. P was the first up and in my room. He right away said Happy Mother's Day and I love you. Awww then he said I have something for you and ran off. This is what he had.....
P made this at school as he said All by himself, along with a card that he wrote on in french "Bonne fete des meres" and a nice little portrait of mom.

The kids made made me a nice little breakfast of yogurt and granola cereal. They wanted to make a bigger breakfast but did not want me to help and hubby is at work today so this is what they came up with. They set the table and poured out the cereal and yogurt.
Now I think it will be a day of relaxing and working on some blog reviews. Looks kind of dreary out, I hope it clears up enough to take the kids to the park.

Hope you have a Wonderful day and weekend!

    Project Grocery Week 7 April 30-May 6th,2011

So this weekend was pretty busy and I only got a picture of part of our groceries.

This week was a lot of stocking up on cans, cereal and such. Not a huge grocery trip. I think that is the nicest part of having a stocked pantry and freezer. It does take time and practice but once you get the hang of picking up on sale and combining coupons you will have a stocked pantry also. I stock up on non-perishables when they are on sale. If you watch your sales you can kind of track when they will be on again. This way you can buy enough to get you through to the next sale.

Fresh Co.: $6.95 - pizza for the kids (Dh and I had a dinner out!), strawberries and 10 lb bag of potatoes.
    Shopper's Drugmart: $8.18 - 2 bags of milk.
Giant Tiger: $19.78 - everything in the above picture.
Food Basics: $28.14 - banana's, oranges, cereal x3, icing x2, chocolate chips, mustard, vinegar, cake mix. $1.00 off coupon used.
Walmart: $8.46 - Eye drops Refresh Tears $2.00 off coupon used.
Beer Store: $24.00 estimate we had returns and dh doesn't like to ask for a receipt haha.

    Grand Total: $95.51
Coupons Used: $3.00 very slow week but hard to use coupons when you don't actually need to buy a product.

We need ground coffee and cheese. I know block cheese is on sale at Fresh Co. I just need to get there somehow as it is a 25 min drive from our place and with the gas prices so crazy that would make the sale not worth going for. I may call and see when they close and hit it on the way home from work.

    McCain Purely Potatoes Review

As busy moms we all want a quick and easy way to serve a healthy and delicious meal to our family. McCain offers a variety of delicious options for quick and easy meals from pizza to their new Purely Potatoes. These potatoes come in a family sized one time use bag that go straight in the microwave to take the prep work out of making mashed potatoes.
Put the potato bag in the microwave and put it on for 11 minutes. The bag will expand to the point that you wonder if it may explode. It didn't but it did look HUGE!
When taking the bag out and opening it, be very careful as it is Very HOT! I used oven mitts to handle and open the bag. Here are the potatoes cooked and ready to be mashed. We added butter, sour cream, a bit of milk and minced garlic. Yummy!

    Here they are:
My opinion on these are they taste great, they are easy to make with no peeling and cutting! They are not cost efficient as they cost $3.69 for a bag at our Independent. This really only feeds a family of four. We are on a tight grocery budget so we wont be eating these often. You can pick up a 10 lb bag of potatoes for less than $5. They are not quick as it likely took me 20 minutes to prepare these in the microwave and mash them. I would like to try the Sweet Potato chucks as I hate peeling and cutting those.

~*Disclaimer: I am a Bzzagent and I received a complimentary bag of Purely Potatoes to review. All opinions are honest and my own.*~
