There have been a lot of Scams going around lately. Two very dangerous ones if people think they are real. These can give the person all the information needed to do Identity theft, and credit card theft.
The first one I will tell you about is a phone call out of the blue. This caller will say they are with Window's, Microsoft, big company who most would trust. The caller then will tell you that they want to help with your computer, make it work better and faster. They will ask you to do a few things on your computer. Ask you to follow what they tell you and then this will help them access your computer and files. Please whatever you do, do not do this!
The next scam I received last night while asleep. It is from "Window's Live". Here is the exact email above this in the email there is a horrible image file attached that says Window Live Hotmail Alert and highlighted in Grey.

thanks for this information. New ideas of scams keep coming up by the week. A crime!
ReplyDeleteYour welcome. Just thought the email was funny as I use my soo much.
ReplyDeleteI have received this email several times and have never clicked on anything. As for the telephone call it's just common sense. I doubt that anyone from Microsoft would ever call you to help you speed up your computer. But if ever in doubt, you could always ask them for their phone number and say you will check into it and call them back. Ten to one they won't give it to you.
ReplyDeleteViolet, I am sure most people don't fall for it but the lady in staples almost did. The manager also got the call and played around with the guy for a bit.
ReplyDeleteI've been getting the hotmail ones since I opened my newest hotmail account. I think it was the first or 2nd one I got. Then when I upgraded to live I started getting those too. Thanks for sharing the info as I am sure it will help to stop people from falling for it!

Scams are now getting more and more prominent - I encountered one on Facebook just last week when a hacker got into my friend's Facebook account and said she had been held up at gun point and needed money. Just outrageous!
ReplyDeleteJust stopping by as part of the Canadian Blog Hop from www.yoursfaithfully.ca/blog.
Have a great week.
